Generalization Analyst

Generalization analyst is used to clean up the small erroneous data or to remove the unnecessary data with the generalization concept.

For instance, a classified satellite imagery may contain some areas or classes that is misclassified or unidentified. The imagery scanned from paper maps might contain some unnecessary text or lines.

In SuperGIS Spatial Analyst 3, Generalization analyst provides seven methods in three classes, tools to generalize regionally (Nibble, Expand, Shrink, Region Group), tools to smooth the boundary of the region (Bounding Clean, Majority Filter) and tool to change the resolution of raster (Aggregate). Now we will describe the seven methods respectively.

Generalization Analyst includes seven methods:

Aggregate

Boundary Clean

Expand

Majority Filter

Nibble

Shrink
