Region Group
Zone refers to the blocks consist of cells of same value in a raster; Region is the union of same zones. Region can be composed by discontinuous Zones. But we need to treat the Region as independent physical objects when calculating it. Region Group gives a new value to each region in the raster.
Users can evaluate the connectivity of the cells of same value by 4 cells or 8 cells. 4 cells considers whether a cell and its up and down and left and right neighbor cells have the same value, if yes, they are treated as connected; 8 cells considers not only the up and down and left and right neighbor cells but also the diagonals.
