Distance Analyst

Distance analysis is an overall analysis. It takes the sources as the criteria and calculates the relation of the distance  from each cell value to its closest source.

In Spatial Analyst 3, some tools are increased: straight line distance, cost-weighted distance, shortest path and corridor. Straight line distance measures the straight line distance from each cell to its closest source; cost-weighted distance gets the minimum accumulative cost from each cell to the source; shortest path searches the shortest path from a destination to source; corridor calculates the sum of accumulative costs of two input accumulative cost rasters.

Distance Analyst includes four methods:

Straight Line Distance

Cost Weighted Distance

Shortest Path

Corridor
