Network Analysis Elements
After Vehicle Routing Problem is chosen, the five related network analysis elements (Order, Depot,Vehicle, Route Seed Points, Point barrier, line barrier and polygon barrier) will be revealed on Network Location Window in the left side. Now we are to introduce the network analysis elements and the parameters.
It saves the network positions of the orders. This layer contains two different symbols: the located Order and unlocated Order. Users can change the color and style of the Orders layer in Layers in the right side, or set the related parameters on Network Location Window in the left side.
Order Parameters
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of the order. |
Position |
The coordinates of the order. |
CurbApproach |
The possible direction of the order when vehicle arrives and leaves it. 1.0 represents no safety island in the middle of the road, so users can directly drive to the backward lane. 2.1 represents the position of order is in the right side of the digitizing direction(if the digitizing direction is equal to the road direction, we can consider the order is located in the sidewalk of the forward lane. ) 3.2 represents the position of order is in the left side of the digitizing direction(if the digitizing direction is equal to the road direction, we can consider the order is located in the sidewalk of the backward lane. ) |
Delivery |
The quantity of goods the Order gives to vehicle. |
Pickup |
The quantity of goods received by the order from the vehicle. |
Duration |
The time the vehicle stays at a order. |
Weight |
An order of heavier weight stands higher importance, and should be visited in prior. |
Start Time |
The beginning time the vehicle is allowed to arrive. |
End Time |
The end time that the vehicle is allowed to arrive. |
It saves the network positions of the depots (the vehicle distribution center); depot can be considered as the distribution center where the vehicle departures from and come back at last. This layer contains two different symbols: the located depot and unlocated depot. Users can change the color and style of the Depots layer in Layers in the right side, or set the related parameters on Network Location Window in the left side.
Depot Parameter
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of the depot. |
In general, each road has weight when performing network analysis. A road with larger weight means it has higher cost; one with smaller weight has the lower cost. Principally, a route with lower cost will be expected when performing network analysis; the concept of route seed points allows users to define a range in which the weight of roads around the route seed points decreases down. In this way, when a vehicle is proceeding toward the order, it will choose to go through the area where the route seed points are located.
It saves the number of vehicle. Vehicles must start from and end in some depot to offer service at different locations (orders) in between. So, as a vehicle is increased, its start location and end location must be defined with a certain depot by default. If you have more than one depot, please open the properties window of the vehicle and adjust the start and end depot for it or adjust some detailed settings so that the better result can be obtained. In addition to orders and depots, vehicles have crucial influence on Vehicle Routing Problem as well. You need to clearly define the properties for each vehicle so that the optimized performance of Vehicle Routing Problem can be obtained.
Vehicle Parameters
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of the vehicle. |
Start Depot |
Sets the departure depot for the vehicle. |
End Depot |
Sets the last depot for the vehicle. |
Capacity |
Sets the total capacity of the vehicle. |
Distance |
Sets the total traveling distance of the vehicle. |
Time |
Sets the total traveling time of the vehicle. |
Early Time |
If time window is set, it sets the time that the vehicle can early arrive at orders in total. |
Late Time |
If time window is set, it sets the time that the vehicle can late arrive at orders in total. |
Over Load |
Sets the overloading of vehicle. |
Start Time |
Sets the beginning time the vehicle offers service. |
End Time |
Sets the end time the vehicle offers service. |
Point Barrier, Line Barrier, Polygon Barrier
It stops or changes the accessibility of network data. This layer contains two different symbols: the located point barrier, unlocated point barrier, line barrier and polygon barrier. Users can change the color and style of the Barriers layer in Layers in the right side, or set the related parameters on Network Location window in the left side.
Point Barrier Parameters
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of point barrier. |
Position |
The coordinates of the point barrier. |
Line Barrier Parameter
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of line barrier. |
Polygon Barrier Parameter
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of polygon barrier. |
