Filename Conflict

In order to avoid overwriting the file with the same filename or the subsidiary file with the same file name in the process of conversion, SuperGIS DataConvertor does not allow overwriting any files. Before converting the data, the system will check whether there are files with the same filename and in the same formats or the subsidiary files with the same file name in the folder you select. If yes, SuperGIS DataConvertor will rename the file for you by adding a bracket and a number to replace the original file name.

If you would like to output a Test.geo file but the filename conflict problem occurs, SuperGIS DataConvertor will rename the file as Test(1).geo. If a coordinate system has been specified in the file, Test(1).prj file will be appended to define the spatial reference for the vector layer. You can check if the file name is changed in Converting Window or Log File.

The conversion processed in SuperGIS DataConvertor usually includes the corresponding spatial reference settings. Therefore, for the specific formats which need specific appended files to define the spatial reference, the filename conflict problem might also happen to the appended file. For example, the formats SuperGIS DataConvertor support to output the appended spatial reference file (*.prj) include vector data, SuperGeo Format (*.geo) and ESRI Shape (*.shp), raster data, SuperGeo Raster Format (*.sgr), ERDAS LAN File (*.lan), Tagged Image File (*.tif), and JPEG File (*jpg), and NRT data. If files in these formats are defined with spatial reference, PRJ File (*.prj) will be appended to define the coordinate system for the file. Therefore, if the filename conflict problem occurs to the appended files, SuperGIS DataConvertor will automatically rename the file, instead of overwriting the existing files.

It is suggested to check whether there is filename conflict problem before you start to convert data to prevent the mistakes.
