Geodatabase and Topology

The traditional GIS data displays the world in a way of point, line and polygon on the map. But in the real world, it is much more complex. For instance, we have one-way road, two-way road; the water pipes are sketched as lines on the traditional map; however, the pipes have their fixed directions and are unable to flow inversely. These characteristics are so-called topology.

We need to create the connectivity of spatial data using topology to process the layers in SuperGIS Desktop more effectively. Most data format used in SuperGIS Desktop is GEO, but GEO does not have topology relationship and is limited in data management, security or utilization efficiency. So, we create and process topology in Topology Analyst with a different data format, Geodatabase.

Geodatabase records feature class data in a database, with the object-oriented feature, GIS users can easily manage the huge amount of data in a platform. Besides, the completeness and expansibility of the data will therefore be enhanced greatly. The environment of connectivity in Geodatabase allows users to create the topology. The supported database includes SQL Server, Oracle and Access (*.mdb), which is used to store smaller data.
