Add Layers

When you open a new file, you should add one or several appropriate layers for analysis. For SuperGIS Cube, you can add raster or vector layers. In addition to the .geo file defined by SuperGIS, *.shp, *.kml, *.kmz, CityGML and many image formats, such as *.bmp,*.jpg, *.tif, *.gif, as well as *.png files, are also supported. In a folder, a layer usually has a main file in raster or vector format along with a *.prj file of the same file name mostly. In the SuperGIS Cube, the system will require the spatial reference when adding a layer. In other words, before the system reads the added layer, it needs the coordinate system description format (*.prj file) to obtain the spatial reference of the layer. The datum of the layer, moreover, should be coordinate system of latitude and longitude, so that the layer can be presented on the window. For example, you want to add a layer in *.shp format on the map, and you should also add a *.prj file recording its datum of latitude and longitude for system to judge. So the SuperGIS Cube can correctly position the location of the layer according to the spatial reference of the *.prj file. If your file doesn't contains the .prj file, you will not be able to add it to SuperGIS Cube.

Note: The *.prj file is the coordinate system description format of a layer recording the spatial coordinate data of the layer.

In SuperGIS Cube, you can click on the Add Layer icon to add the layers supported SuperGIS Cube, including raster, vector, *kml, *.kmz, CityGML. to add layers.

If you open a *.shp or *.geo, you will have to choose to add it as a vector layer or a tile image.

1.Vector layer: it is suggested to open your data as vector layers if your data contain z value, or if you want to design 3D symbols.

2.Tile image: In general, it is suggested to add your layers as tile images. In this way, all the data will be cached to improve the performance.
