Experimental Semivariograms with Different Directions

Experimental semivariograms with different directions contains the following important terminology:

Tolerance:

Deciding if the nearby points in the bandwidth will become the search target or not.

Bandwidth:

A search width, deciding which pairs will be in the search width which is needed for drawing a semivariogram.

Active lag distance:

The lag distance means the desired range for processing variable calculation. The smallest lag distance is the shortest distance between any 2 points amongst all samples; the biggest lag distance is the longest distance between any 2 points amongst all samples.

Lag class distance interval:

Deciding how paired points are grouped as a lag class. Each point in variogram presents average semivariance in each single lag class.

The figure below is an example of 90-degree direction, 5-meter bandwidth, 45-degree tolerance, 5-meter of lag distance, and a search range of 45 degrees (90-45) to 135 degrees (90+45).
