How to Publish Pre-cached Maps

Users now are able to use the add-on Cache Generator in SuperGIS Desktop to pre-cache maps and publish them to greatly improve the map loading performance. The Cache Generator is a free add-on available in SuperGIS Desktop. Please refer to SuperGIS Desktop manual for more information about Cache Generator. This chapter shows how to publish a cached map created by Cache Generator.

1.Publish a map service, and configure it as a map cache service. Refer to Publishing Map Cache Service for detailed instructions.

2.Use SuperGIS Desktop to open the *.sgd file you used for publishing the map service, and open Cache Generator.

3.Set up cache scales, extents, origin, cache tile size, etc. Please be noted that all the cache settings should be EXACTLY the same as the cache settings in the map cache service. If any of them mismatches, SuperGIS Server will not be able to read the cache file. You can use Cache Generator in the SuperGIS Desktop to generate a cache definition file (*.def) which records the map caches' origin, extent, format, scales, layers, and so on. Therefore, when publishing the pre-cached map, you can use Load from *.def to load all the cache settings and ensure that the cache service use the same cache settings as the pre-cached map.

4.Export the cache map. Please be noted that you should export the cache file to the working space of SuperGIS Server, i.e. C:\MapCache. And its name should also be the same of the map cache service, i.e. SERVICE.cfg.

5.Then you will get one *.stp (or *.xml) and serveral *.stc files. If you are using SuperGIS Server 3.2.0004 or earlier versions, please modify the *.stp file to *.xml file so that SuperGIS Server will be able to read the cache map.

6.Restart SuperGIS Server Container and IIS.

By following the steps, you will be able to publish a pre-cached map and greatly improve the map browsing experience.
