Mapnote properties provides users to set symbology, display setting, and coordinate system. In coordinate system tab, you can view the coordinate system of your mapnote layer, and change coordinate system. Also, users are allowed to set the maximum and minimum scale and transparency of the layer to view and display the mapnote more easily. The operations and settings in the display, source, and the coordinate system tab are similar to properties layer of feature layers. The symbology tab allows users to set symbology of mapnote, the following section will introduce each parameter and how to operate:

Symbology of mapnote

You can edit color, font size and font style of mapnotes individually, however, one mapnote layer can only be applied one background symbol and one halo symbol. Therefore, when you change the symbol, two modes are provided:

1. When you change the symbol, the symbol of font and color will be remained. This mode is designed for users who need to edit mapnote, and it is the default setting.

2. Apply all symbol settings to mapnote layer. If you select this mode, all mapnotes will be rendered depending on your symbol settings. This mode is used for users who don't need to edit mapnotes but need to change the appearance of mapnotes.

Show unplaced mapnote

When you convert labels to mapnote, some labels will be converted as unplaced mapnote. By default setting, unplaced mapnote is invisible. To show unplaced mapnote, you have to click “Show unplaced mapnote”. The default color of unplaced mapnote is different from placed mapnote for distinguishing with ease, and you can alter the color based on your preference.

Separation mode

Separation mode allows users to apply two or more symbology settings on certain mapnotes. The separation setting is a temporary render setting, and it doesn't change the stored data. It will be convenient for users who need to apply multiple symbology settings on a text string without really splitting text strings.

Steps:

1.Click separation, and select mode.

Multi-part mode splits a text string into several parts depending on delimiter in text string. Stack mode will split a text string into several parts and each separated part will be displayed in a new line.

2.Choose one delimiter for splitting.

5 delimiters are provided for splitting, and users can also type a customized note as the delimiter.

3.Decide the symbology for each part

Add symbology in part symbology dialog, the symbology will apply on the corresponding part of text string.
