Split

 

 

Split tool is designed for users to split their LiDAR data into several specified layers according to X/Y/Z axis or GPS time with which LiDAR data are collected. In this way, you can compare the split files effortlessly. Besides, this tool helps you lighten the original LiDAR file.

 

To split LiDAR data, follow steps below:

 

1.Select a layer which is linked to the one displayed in TOC via the drop-down menu of Input LiDAR data. Or click the folder button and specify a layer in the local computer.

2.You can decide to split your LiDAR file by X/Y/Z axis or GPS time via selecting one of them form the drop-down menu of Select Field. The maximum and minimum value of X/Y/Z axis or GPS time shown after you specify a layer (the step 1), you can click the Get Extent button to get the values if you found that not shown after step 1.

3.Specify the number of the split files via the option, Split. You can have LiDAR data split into average parts by selecting Split into _____ Parts and enter the number of split files you want. Or, you can select Split by fixed value and enter the value to have you LiDAR data split by the specified value.

4.Choose your output LiDAR file as *.LAS file or *.LAZ file.

5.Specify an output folder to save the split LiDAR files. Due to that several files would be output at once, you need to specify a folder via the Output path option.
