Adding External Table

 

 

Open Add Data dialog, select the DBF file or .txt file you intend to add and click Open, you can add table of the file into Desktop. And the added table file will show in Data Content dialog. If you need to add other tables afterwards, files having same path will be placed in the same subdirectory. Besides, you can right-click on root directory in Data Content dialog to use functions including Select All Tables, Expand All Tables, Collapse All Tables, etc.

 

 

NOTEIf the added DBF has the same name with any .geo file or .shp file in the folder, the DBF file will not show in Data Content dialog.

 

 

To add more target tables on previously-used path, users need to right click the path. Choose “Add table” and see window “Add Table” to pop out. Previously-used path would show as “Path” and tables those have not been added would show as “Table.” Users could choose target table and click “OK” to add it. Right-clicking on “Remove” could remove the whole path and tables from this path.

 

   

 

 

Added tables could be opened by double-clicking or right-clicking and choose “Open”. Function manipulating here are the same as which in “Attribute Table” of layers. But notice that editing functions do not support table which is opened in “Table Source.”

 

           

 

 

In addition, users could set up table content by right-clicking to choose “Properties.” There are tabs “Fields” and “Relate and Joint” in “Properties” window. Setting of names, alias, number format and primary display field of tab “Fields” and “Relate and Joint” are identical to those in “Layer Properties.” Users can make reference to section “Setting Fields” and “Relate and Joint” in “Layer Property.”

 

               

 

 

Users could export tables by the steps below. Firstly: right-click on the target table and see window “Export table” to pop out. Second: choose to export all records or export all selected records. Third: specify the export path in “Output table location”. Then, click "OK" to export table.
