HRC Settings

 

 

In Network Analyst, the hierarchy of network data can be divided into three levels, Primary road, secondary road and local road. The primary road is of the highest level, the second place is secondary road and the local road is of the lowest level. For instance, freeways or express ways will be considered as primary roads, the main roads will be considered as the secondary roads, and the regular roads or lanes will be considered as the local roads.

 

If the road hierarchy information is increased to the network data as you are converting network data, Network Analyst will be able to offer you the optimized result on demand. The hierarchy should be set up when you are converting network data. Now we are going to explain how to set the HRC settings when converting network data.

 

1. In the NRT Settings tab of Settings window, select the field of hierarchy in “Hierarchy Field” in “Field Parameter.”

 

 

 

 

 

2. After the field is selected, click HRC Settings and HRC Settings window shows up.

 

 

 

 

3. In HRC Settings window, all values in the selected hierarchy field will be classified to “All values in the field.” You can select a single value in “All values in the field” and click “Add” next to “Primary Values” or “Secondary Values” to add such value to the level. In HRC Settings, the levels from high to low are primary road, secondary road and local road.

 

 

 

 

4. After the settings are finished, click OK and go back to the Settings window. Click OK at the lower right corner and  return to SuperGIS DataConvertor window and then click Convert to start to convert Network Data.

 

 

 

 

5. After conversion is accomplished, the message of the figure below shows up and the network data will include the hierarchy information you just set.

 

 

 

Note: Hierarchy Field supports text or numeric format, so you can select road field which has the related road data as the base, like road type field. If you want to create the network data with hierarchy information, please prepare the layer data with hierarchy information to convert to network data to use. Or you can increase a hierarchy field to the road layer before doing network data conversion.
