Extract Surface Values

Extract Surface Values enables users to get raster information through the input of points. The data processed with "Extract Surface Values" will be output as point layer and the raster information will be saved as the attributes.

The attribute data of the output point layer records the existing attributes of the source input points; besides, an additional field (by default, it is "EXTRACTVAL") will be added to save the raster information that is extracted. With operation of extracting surface values, not only the existing attributes of the source input points are recorded, but also the “EXTRACTVAL” field is added to save the data of surface values. The type of the EXTRACTVAL field will be determined by the input raster. For instance, if the input raster is floating point type, the field type will be “Double.”

Additionally, if the extract raster value is NoData, the minimum value of the type of the EXTRACTVAL field will be filled up. For instance, if we set the EXTRACTVAL field Short, -32768 will be filled up when the extracted raster value is NoData.
